Unveiling Intel's Accidental Comedy Show and the 'Almost-New' Gen Processors!

Looks like someone over at MSI decided to spice up their day by playing a round of "Let's Accidentally Leak Top-Secret Stuff!"  Their oopsie-daisy move had them publish a YouTube video that was meant to be as hush-hush as a library during a naptime.

You know it's a real party when the video comes with a flashy "NDA, do not share" text. It's like a virtual velvet rope, except it seems some rebel CPUs snuck in for a dance on the public stage.

And of course, in a move that surprises absolutely no one, the video vanished quicker than a magician's rabbit.  But hey, in the age of screenshots, once it's out there, it's out there, like a CPU genie that refuses to go back in the bottle.

Now, as for the main dish of this accidental feast, it turns out that the Core i7 14700K and 14700KF CPUs are the cool kids who got invited to the "More Core" party. They rolled up with extra efficient cores, probably wearing sunglasses indoors because they're so laid-back.

But hold your CPU horses, because the rest of the gang didn't really get a makeover. They basically stuck with their old core counts like they're wearing last year's fashion. And according to the leaked video, they're about as exciting as a snail race, only about three percent faster than their older siblings.

But wait, there's a plot twist! The Core i7 models with their newfound cores suddenly decided to get all buff in the multi-threaded department – like they've been hitting the virtual gym during lockdown. A 17 percent uplift in multi-threaded performance? That's like the CPU version of finding out your couch potato neighbor became a weightlifting champion overnight.

And as for the grand reveal, these 14th Gen chips are like that sequel in a movie series that doesn't really bring anything new to the table. They're basically the same architecture with a fancier name tag, like a chameleon wearing a slightly different shade of green.

So, if you were expecting fireworks, you might have to wait for Intel's Arrow Lake CPUs to really light up the sky. And guess what? Those fireworks might not pop until the second half of 2024 – like a New Year's celebration that's fashionably late.

But hey, don't lose hope just yet. Intel's got some potential excitement brewing with their Meteor Lake CPUs for laptops. Imagine a chiplet design that's like a CPU jigsaw puzzle and a die shrink that's basically a "makeover montage" for your processor. Fingers crossed for the tech magic show we've all been waiting for!
